2020 Palm Beach Walk to Defeat ALS
Sunday, May 31, 2020

Join us in celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Walk to Defeat ALS®! The Walk has come a long way in the last two decades, all because of people like you — volunteers, donors, participants, families, and sponsors. We can’t thank you enough for all you’ve done for the ALS community.

Let's take a look at where we started and where we are now.

The first Walk to Defeat ALS happened all the way back in 1993 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was led by two dedicated individuals, Rita Hirschfield and Bob Kelley. At that time the closest ALS Association chapter was in New York. Rita and Bob recognized they needed a local network of supporters, so a support group was started in a room at the local hospital. They knew they needed to fundraise to further support their efforts, and the Walk was born.

In 2000, The ALS Association officially adopted the Walk to Defeat ALS with 13 events. What started locally spread across the country and grew in size and scope to over 170 events and in 2019 raised over $26 million dollars.

Thank you for joining us along this journey, together we can defeat ALS.

Although the Walk to defeat ALS has been postponed to a later date, we cannot stop our efforts now!

We have a created a special, online bidding experience that will continue to bring awareness and raise funds. You have the opportunity to win a collection of prizes, brought to you by our Palm Beach Walk Committee from local partners!

All contributions and proceeds will go directly to the 2020 Palm Beach Walk to Defeat ALS!
